What Is A Water Bed?
Wasserbett, as the name implies is a bed with water or a bed filled with water. Water beds were mainly used for patients in olden days on the recommendation of their doctors. But, it is commonly used these days for a sound sleep in variable climatic conditions. Water beds were invented by a physician from Scotland in the early 1800s.
Depending on the construction of water beds, it could be broadly classified into hard sided water beds and soft sided water beds. Within a rectangular shaped wood material, a mattress (water filled) is occupied in a hard sided water bed. Same is the case of soft sided water bed. Here, the rectangular shaped material is of sturdy stuff. It doesn’t have a special appearance to distinguish it from normal beds. Instead, it has regular looks and styles and is designed for keeping in bedrooms. “Vinyl” is the primary resource for the construction of water beds. Hence, any repairs for the water beds could be done using a vinyl kit.
The advantages that water beds offer over traditional ones are countless. It is not an exaggeration to mention that the water beds could be subjected to heat. In the winter season, human body will feel sleepy when the blood pressure goes lower. In cold conditions, blood pressure will go lower only in relatively hotter climates. So, heat able beds are extremely useful in winter seasons. Also, the heat beds will allow the blood to circulate better in cold conditions. It helps the muscles rest and relax.
People who are bed ridden due to permanent impairment would find water beds extremely useful and comfortable. Paralyzed people, people having a bad back etc would feel the comfort of water beds. None would have experienced the comfort you get from sleeping in Wasserbetten. When sleeping, water beds take away the pressure mainly from joints and you will certainly feel like you have freed yourself from aches and pains. Spine muscles also benefit from water beds, since it takes the pressure away.
The water bed cover is washable and should be washed frequently to keep it clean and hygienic. Otherwise, the dust would create severe problems for people with allergies. Particles like dirt hardly go through the mattress. Even though the advantages of water beds are numerous, it has got some drawbacks, which are worthy to mention.
As mentioned above, heating water beds could bring soundless sleep. But, this activity has proven to be costly. Even though the cost would largely depend on the climatic conditions, it has been found that the power consumption of water beds is greater than that of a refrigerator.
Water beds, designed for specific purposes seem to have a larger size than most expect. In this case, sometimes, it becomes difficult to find the suitable bed sheet for the bed. When it comes to the portability of water beds, it is greatly disappointing because it is difficult to move the water beds from one place to another. Leaking of water beds is another major area of concern. Even though this can be sorted out with the help of plastic liners, the efforts always seem to be in vain every now and then with the activities of emptying the water bed, refilling the water bed etc.
Yet, water beds are said to increase the pleasure and intimacy of sex. Although opinions differ from people to people and from culture to culture, it deserves to restate that, water beds have got a reputation for lively and intense sex. Deutsch englisch übersetzung
