More Decorating Styles to Choose From

There are many, many styles to choose from when decorating your home. Many styles are representative of different eras of North American history while other styles are representative of lands throughout the world.

With so many styles to choose from, finding the style that suits you may not be an easy task. If you find it hard to choose one certain style, don’t be afraid to combine several styles in order to create your own unique style that to represent your individuality. Here are a few more styles for you to choose from:

Contemporary – represented by bold, bright patterns against a light background, this style can be complemented by abstract paintings and vinyl furniture coverings. Colors representing a contemporary style include deep purples, teals, and fuchsias against neutral colored backdrops.

Art Deco – this style represents the vibrant colors and designs of the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s when life was fun and carefree. Neon, chrome, and other metal furnishings, as well as bakelite plastics make up the art deco décor and the lines are streamlined, angular, and elegant.

Eclectic – this style is a combination of many styles and is the most popular style, allowing each individual to show their own uniqueness and flair. Combinations of pieces from different styles can often create a unique and beautiful décor.

Whimsical – unusual patterns in bright colors represent a whimsical style. This style allows you to use your imagination to make creations and color combinations that are all your own.

Mediterranean – pottery and aquatic pieces are used to accent a Mediterranean décor. Simple patterns using earth tones such as terra cotta and warm yellows are often set off by adding accents in blue and gold.
