How to make your own headboards

Headboards are the main point of any bedroom. They show your taste and personality. There are tons of designs and materials on the market these days, but the most common of them all are the wooden headboards. They look sophisticated and rich. The downside to them is that they can be very expensive and not everyone can afford to use pricey headboards.

If you are decorating your child's room, particularly beds and headboards, you probably won't want to spend as much on the decor as kids grow up very quickly and their likings and tastes change just as fast. In such cases spending extravagantly on kids bedroom decor is pretty much pointless.

Because of this, it’s best to use inexpensive headboards for your kids room. They can be replaced when the times call for it, and you will not have invested much. Getting inexpensive headboards is not that difficult of a task. There are plenty of places where you can get good quality headboards at a good cost.

You likely will need to look around a bit for inexpensive headboards. You could look online or at furniture stores who are going out of business (or are having a going out of business sale). If you are lucky you can get some of the most interesting headboards at a very good price. So keep an eye out for these sales and discount offers. You can also investigate wicker headboards.

If you are the creative type of person, however, then you can make your own headboard that won’t cost you a lot of money. With a little bit of creativity and work, you can make excellent headboards at half the cost that you would have otherwise paid at a retail store.

You can use any material that you like. Just look through your attic or garage and you are sure to find some items that you can use to make cheap headboards. You can use window coverings and shutters, fabrics, salvage tins, spare plywood, stencils, even picture frames. A little bit of paint and tools and you are set to go.

All you need to do is come up with something creative to make a fashionable headboard. You can also build bookcase headboards which are not only inexpensive but also functional. Or you can stick window shutters in back of the bed and cover them with fabric. You can also leave them unpainted to give a rustic country or dramatic look.

You can use hundreds of things to make inexpensive headboards. With a tad bit of imagination and skill (and of course effort), you can make beautiful and inexpensive headboards for your kid's room or maybe even your master bedroom. It won’t cost you more than $100 to make your own headboard so get into your creative side and get started! Take a look for us online for additional interior projects.
