Feng Shui
Wind-water – does this word sequence remind you of anything you have heard before? If you are like most of us, I would guess the answer is no. But if offered with its original translation, you probably would know exactly what it is. Even though the two words 'wind-water' doesn't make any sense to most of us, the original meaning often does. Feng shui is very well known today, it is an old Chinese way of arrangement using laws of earth and heaven to help make life more positive, thanks to the positive so called qi
All the rooms in the house can be organized according to the rules of feng shui and actually, numerous households are. It doesn't matter which room in the house you want to arrange, every single room can be organized using this old tradition. It doesn't matter how many rooms are in the home, they are, according to the theory are all joined. So let's have a look at one room in the home that everybody spends time in on a daily basis – the bedroom.
Items that are classed as definitely wrong for the bedroom, are items such as gym equipment, electrical equipment, plants and family photographs. The reason is that these will damage all the possible good energy which is in the room. On the other hand, positive happy pictures and items are just right for any bedroom. To produce positive energy, look for positive pictures and items that you can duplicate, as one of something is still wrong for the room. Choose pictures that are bright, cheerful and positive as well as ornaments, though make sure ornaments are part of a pair. Pick something that brings inspiration or pictures with two humans in them, make sure they feel positive. If you feel perfect about the items in the room, then chances are you are on the right track. You have to admit to yourself that looking at something nice and joyful is much better than looking at something depressing and sad.
Colours for the bedroom is another important decision you need to make, but it's not all guesswork, feng shui can help you here as well. Flesh tones, from a pale to the dark brown blends are considered the best colors to buy to make the most of feng shui. I believe most of these tones can combine very well with any other color. If you decide to use these colors, you will also find that most other decors go well with them, as they are quite neutral. Try applying a contrasting colour on one of the walls, or your favorite colour; this should make a nice combination. As flesh shades are quite neutral, any other color you pick should go very well and look effective.
When deciding which direction to place your bed, there are lots of different ways it can be put. You should know which aspect of your life you would like to channel, in almost all of them, the bed should be turned in a slightly different direction. The general rule is, decide which part of your life you want to change, then position the bed in a slightly different direction. There is no universal working position, so look up the position in accordance with the part of your life you want to improve. If you are unsure what each position signifies, then there are many ways to find out, from books to browsing the web.
As a summerhill homes expert, who spent almost 3 decades working with houses, I have to warn you: Beware! What you should not do, according to feng shui, is to have a mirror facing your bed. You can still have one in the room, though. Close your bedroom door as well as storage cupboard doors, is another recommendation feng shui advocates. I don't know about you, but I always feel more secure having the doors shut anyway. If you really do not feel comfortable with doors closed to or need them open for a reason, then for your piece of mind don't close them. Your comfort is the most primary concern. No amount beneficial energy is going to flow if you feel uncomfortable in your room.
