Decorating A Girls Bedroom
‘Any color, as long as it is pink!’. That’s your cue for decorating a girl’s bedroom. From soft baby pink to bold shocking pink and many shades between, you cannot go wrong with ubiquitous pink. Combine that with a sea of frills and lace; a touch of buttons and bows, and you have a room that any girl would love to call her own.
Sugar and spice and everything nice with large dollops of pretty pinks, lovely lavenders and peachy pastels; that’s what little girl’s rooms are made of. Soft airy curtains and a canopy bed would be just the things to complete this picture perfect room. Stenciled butterflies, flowers and vines make the walls come alive in a rhapsody of colors. Though little girls absolutely adore pink, they also love pretty colors of every hue.
Fairy Forests and Angel Dust
Faux painted skies with white fluffy clouds on the ceiling, ethereal looking wallpaper in lavender and pink, decorative borders and soft, fluffy bedding and gossamer curtains will transform any room into a fairy forest. Place reusable stickers of butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs and frogs on the furniture and hang fairy mobiles from the ceiling for that magical touch. To bring the magic into the room get a display set that features a wand, a pair of fairy wings and some angel dust in a dainty glass decanter. Twinkling stars scattered along a colorful rainbow that streaks across the wall makes the room look even more enchanting.
Castles and Princesses
Recreate a mini-Disney World right inside your Princesses room with faux painted castle walls and murals under a sky blue ceiling. Unending trails of flowers and ivy provide a good balance to the weighty appearance of faux stone walls. Add flags to give the castle a more realistic appearance. Use soft flowing fabrics for the bedding and curtains and lots of glitter and shine on accent pieces, including lampshades. Frames that are spray painted with silver and embellished with gemstones tie the room make the room regal and an ornately framed mirror will add a touch of magic to this fairy-tale room and a glittering tiara will give the room a regal touch.
Flower Power
Characterized by bold reds and bright oranges; lime greens and sun yellow, watermelon pink and stunning purples, this look is evocative of the retro-6’s. Do up the room in colorful fabrics that feature stylized flowers in simple shapes and hot colors. Cannot find wall paper to match the curtains and sheets? These simple, bold outlines of these flowers can be easily reproduced on to the walls and colored in shades that match the flowers on the fabric.
Maybe your little girl loves flowers, but prefers dainty little flowers in pastel colors instead of large flowers in bright colors. Look for fabric that has an all-over flowery pattern featuring tiny flowers. Dainty lace trimming added to pillows and sheets gives the room a cozy, warm feeling. For a completely different look, why not buy white sheets and white curtains that have embroidered flowers strewn all over.
Parisian Chic
Older girls are sure to love the idea of going Oo-la-la in their bedrooms styled in the Parisian chic theme with wrought iron furniture, crown molding and Parisian theme wallpaper or border. Paint closet doors to look like shops that line the Champs d’Elysees. For accessories across the room, you can use hat boxes, feathers, beading and of course that very Parisian of all symbols- the Eiffel Tower.
