Why Colleges, Hospitals And Even Camps Fly Flags From Other Countries In Their Buildings
Flags have been around as long as territories and areas have been marked by human civilization . It was a way for humans to make claim to the location in which they believed was theirs. Flags have changed over the years but some have stayed unbelievably close to the ones that initially represented their country. One great example is the United States flag that still has stars and stripes on it as it did so many years ago. Many public buildings have flags displayed for different purposes like schools, summer camps and even hospitals. This article will discuss why some of these places use flags on their building and where they may purchase them when they need new ones whether it is a flag store or if they want to design a custom flag.
Several colleges and universities may have flags from various countries represented around their campus. One example is a little liberal arts school known as Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota. There are flags in the students' cafeteria which go around the entire room. Every flag represents the countries that are currently represented at the school by the students and the staff. Every year, as these countries change with students coming in and graduating, the flags need to change as well so staying on top of ordering new flags is an important factor for someone at this school . It would be quite easy for them to have access to buy these flags online and have it delivered on campus.
Another common place you may see flags from countries all over the globe is at a hospital . Several hospitals have flags flying outside of their main entrances as patients, staff and visitors go into the hospital . It would be hard to change out the flags as frequently as patients come in and out of the hospital so honoring the countries of the different patients would not be feasible . Typically the flags that are displayed at a hospital are all from the countries that are represented by the various staff at the hospital from the woman that works in food service all the way to the top physician in the neurosurgery department.
Because America is such a melting pot of various cultures and types of people that may have been raised in another country, it is nice to acknowledge that fact. Another place that flags are displayed is at a camp for children in Colorado. A lot of kids attend this camp from all over the country and world as well and it may be somewhat frightening and intimidating for them. When they enter the main lodge, they may feel comforted by the sight of their country's flag displayed for them to see and let them know that they should feel welcomed and celebrated as a camper there.
Flags are so colorful and beautiful and the sight of various ones hanging in a place not only makes a great statement but can be a wonderful decorative touch too .
