How To Fix A Dishwasher — Where To Look?
How to fix a dishwasher? Need to know this? How come? Do you need to save money? Is it shopping for a new one you hate? Do you have to repair it according to your wife? Do you just like taking things apart? You need to clean lots of dishes because you are in preparation for a party or wedding?
What ever your reason might be, I'll give you a tip on how to fix a dishwasher. Take a good look at the unit you own. Take out the owners manual, read it through, and look at troubleshooting. Chances are you might be able to fix it yourself, even when the manual says call a technician.
So as soon as you are familiar with the machine you have, and depending on the problem, you will probably have to pull it out from under the counter to get the best access to all parts.
Dishwashers breakdown a lot because water and electronics are not a great combination.
Most breakdowns you will be able to fix. Before you call a repairman, you might be able to save money. I'll show you now a simple repair of one of the most common problems.

Follow these repair tips:
1) Dishes still dirty after washing? Don't worry if this is the case. This might be very easy: is the shut-off valve off, which feeds the water coming into the machine? Look under the sink and check the water shut-off valve. Be positive that it is turned on.
Another simple thing is to check the spray arms for clogs. Unclog them by hand. Since most spray arms are poorly designed food gets clogged in the opening, and you can't take them apart. You will have to clean out the arms with the garden hose putting high pressure water through them.
Put about 300 ml of vinegar in it instead of detergent and run the machine without dishes inside. Make sure you run the full cycle. This should do a great job of cleaning it. So after the dishes have been washed, are they still dirty, is there water left in the bottom of the machine? This might mean that your outlet is clogged: you will have to clean any of the filters at the bottom of the machine. Another thing you can do is check the outlet valve, and hose under the dishwasher.
Not long ago I too followed the directions above, but my dishes still remained dirty. How can this be? More clogs. Always look deeper inside! And that's what I did. I dug deeper into the unit and realized that I was able to clean a filter I had not see before. This nasty filter was blocked with sediments. I cleaned it and everything was fine after that! If you have water that is hard it will build white hard sediments in the filters openings.
