Moving into your first apartment is a big step in a young person’s like. Normally it happens while you are in college or shortly there after. What makes this different than a service like eBay is that the people normally will not ship the item that you purchase. You pay in person instead of online, which means that you should look for things around you. While many of these items are used, most of them look fine. You can see the products in person before purchase, so if you are not happy, the sale can be stopped. Craigslist is perfect for affordable pieces, but not the highest quality items.

For some college students, it might make sense to rent certain things. There are plenty of stores that will allow people to rent beds or televisions for a monthly cost. This makes sense for someone who might want a little bit higher quality but is willing to not own any of their things. Stores like the Goodwill can be good places to look if you do not want to rent. While this store is meant for people with low income to find gently used items, it can be a perfect place to find affordable apartment items. There are always going to be cheap ways to find things to fill your apartment, it is just a matter of how hard you look.

It can be beneficial to find roommates when moving into a new place. With multiple people living in the same building, it will be easier to fill all the rooms. There will be more money for everyone to come together and spend on the things you still need. While you do give up having as much space and privacy, it can make your apartment look that much nicer. Sometimes you could get lucky. You or your roommates may know someone that is looking to give things away. It is a way you could get couches or beds for free. Sure you have no choice in what the stuff looks like, but beggars can’t be choosers. When moving into your first house or apartment, always keep in the back of your mind that you have to find things for every room.
