Bathroom Remodeling: Home Makeover

The smallest room in the house, the bathroom, was once ignored and treated as just a utilitarian room. Nowadays, bathrooms are given special attention due to the numerous options one can do to transform it into a room where you can pamper yourself.

Bathroom remodeling in New York has opened up doors to endless possibilities for homeowners eager to make some changes in their homes. The necessities have remained the same - toilet, sink, shower and tub. Other accessories, however, have been made available to spice up the bathroom such as multiple sinks, two-handle faucets, toilet and bidet, custom tiles and more!

Chandeliers

Contemporary Pendant Lighting the right lighting accents can create the perfect ambiance to any room, on any budget, for any style. Lighting is so unique and specific that professional decorators always start with lighting in order to bring out the attributes in a room and to draw a room together. Using the right lighting can add a sense of joy and peace to a room. Obviously, darker rooms fair well with brighter lighting and light rooms work well with accent lighting. Lighting in general can often be overlooked by amateurs and a floor lamp might be added as a last minute thought to the importance of lighting. If you are starting to decorate a room, start with the light. If you are looking to accent an already decorated room, your task may be a bit harder.

Pendant lighting gives a Home Decor a freedom that other lighting doesn’t. In reality, pendant lighting can be more flexible and more decorative than almost any other style. chandeliers tend to overpower a room while pendant lighting provides adequate lighting right where it is most needed but doesn’t detract attention from the rest of the room. If the lighting in the center of the room is the most important piece in the room, then placing a more highly decorative pendant light in the middle of the room will accomplish this. The use of pendant lighting can work in almost any room, provided that the style of the light compliments the rest of room. Naturally, high ceilings are most appropriate for pendant lighting while lower ceilings can use a limited styling when it comes to pendant lighting. Hitting your head every time you pass under the light will only detract from the room.

Simple and stylish pendant lighting can work well in simple living rooms, high ceiling bathrooms, and even some kitchens, depending on the style of the lighting and the kitchen. Pendant lighting can get more exotic as the size of the room increases. Pendant lighting in the master bedroom nearly always leaves room for significant creativity and open ended styles. Home offices and rec rooms also have potential for pendant lighting. The most important key to using pendant lighting is using the light to draw the room together while considering how well it will light certain areas of the room.

In offices and living rooms, lighting glare can be reduced through the use of pendant lighting. A glare on a computer screen or television screen can be highly annoying. Using appropriately placed pendant lighting can reduce this glare and create even lighting for more specified spaces. Since pendant lighting is not easy to move around once it is installed, this consideration should be addressed prior to hanging the light.

Pendant lighting can be very expensive, and many people will opt for a $50 floor lamp over the cost of a pendant light. However, the specialized world of pendant lighting allows for a higher level of creativity and personalization and is worth every penny of its higher than average price.

Spicing Up Your Bathroom Hardware

Bathroom and Basement hardware is a very important decorative accessory. There are magazines, catalogs, websites and stores that cater specifically to bathroom hardware. The old chrome spigots and spouts are a thing of the past and if that is what is found in your bathroom, a trip to the nearest decorative store is very important. Bathroom hardware consists of bathtub and sink fixtures, shower fixtures, toilet fixtures, door and cabinet knobs and towel holders. If chrome is still your metal of choice, at least try a stylish design or regional theme; such as French, Italian, Spanish or Tropical. Bathroom décor is the new decorative genre and updating old bathrooms is very much the scene in the Interior Design world.

Shower Hardware

Bathroom shower hardware and plumbing items has come a long way baby. No longer is there a plain spout and two water handles in a shower. Special shower heads to change the strength of the water has been around a few years now, but new designs have these same shower heads directed face down over your head. A rainwater effect, as some companies advertise them. There are shower sprays that come from the sides of the shower for the upper body and lower body. These shower heads are put into the walls of the shower and you can direct the stream to whatever part of your body needs the water. There are computers that even set your water temperature for you before you ever turn the water on. No need to wait for the cold water to disappear before stepping into your nice warm shower. Heated towel bars are another bathroom hardware fixture that is almost standard in every bathroom. Turn it on before you get into the shower or bath and you will have nice warm towels when you step out. This bathroom hardware fixture is perfect for cold winter mornings.

The bathroom and attic hardware itself comes in assorted colors and metals. The metals are the most popular of the hardware choices. Gold, pewter, nickel and copper are the number one choices in the metal bathroom hardware. Colored porcelain is another popular choice for bathroom fixtures. Of course the sink, toilet, shower and bath must all match in the same metal. Different styles of fixtures such as twisted, brushed and decorative finials are all very popular today, as well. Antique, but updated fixtures are very common also.

It’s not difficult today to update a bathroom. Changing out bathroom hardware is an easy and inexpensive way to change the look of your bathroom and much cheaper than tearing it out and starting all over again. If changing hardware is not in your budget then try changing the cabinet knobs and pulls. This bathroom hardware can be found at any large decorative hardware store. The choices are vast and sure to make your bathroom look fresh and new again.

Finding Bathroom Faucets That Fit In With Your Bathroom Style

It's really time to fix the faucet. The constant dripping noise is driving you crazy, not to mention the sleep it is depriving you of. Upon close inspection you discover it is not simply the washer causing the problem this time, but the whole thing needs replacing. A visit to Lowe's or Home Depot causes total confusion as you stare opened eyed at the choice you are faced with. Help is seriously needed. How do you make the choice?

Keeping the Same Style Is Easiest

First of all you have to decide whether or not to stick with what you know and replace the faulty faucet with exactly the same style as before. The easiest thing to do is to simply replace your faucet with one which is similar or identical in style. You can remove the bathroom sink faucet and bring it in to find a good match. Of course, if this is not possible then the complications set in and your task becomes much more involved. As there are so many types of mounting for your fixture you will need to know which one you need before buying your new faucet. This is actually the hardest step in choosing your new faucet because the one that you really liked at the store may not work with the current configuration of your sink.

Determine Your Type of Mounting

The most commonly seen mountings include widespread, where there will be individual cold and hot water knobs; center set, with a single knob for hot and cold and covering all three holes which may be present for mounting on your sink; mini-widespread, similar to widespread except for the knobs being less spaced apart; and single-hole, which is similar to center set but only filling one hole and usually wall-mounted - most likely a bathtub faucet. Sinks with 4" holes pre-drilled are best for center set and mini-widespread type faucets. Some of the single hole faucets may also be used on these sinks. Needless to say if you have one of the other types, you would be best going for a replacement of the same kind.

It's all down to aesthetics once you have worked out which type of mount your sink has. Which finish best matches your bathroom? Look for something which will complement the look of the room. It is also good to know whether or not your current faucet is a classical design (rounded edges, flowery embellishments) or modern (sharp angles, geometric embellishments). For example, if your bathroom is more of an antique decor, you may want to stick with a classical style, an everyday decor could use either, and somewhat futuristic decor would definitely go well with modern bathroom designs.

Choosing the Finish

After choosing a faucet, you just have to install it, right? But have you given any thought to the finish of your faucet? Bathroom fixtures can be found in many different finishes and materials. Each finish has its pros and cons. Stainless steel and chrome are the most common finish available, but they scratch easily and show up fingerprints and water spots. Brass, which looks like gold and is very characteristic, rusts more easily. Brushed nickel has a nice flat finish, but is pricey and the plating eventually wears off. The finish is personal choice, but know your options.

There are even choices as far as the handles are concerned with some faucets. This is a matter of personal choice of course, but be sure to select one which matches your decor. The only thing left now is to take your new faucet home and install it. And then enjoy the compliments you will get on this most basic of bathroom items.

Go for a new house with bkr loan, 477119 euro

Settlement costs can include everything from broker commissions and loan-origination fees, which cover the lender's costs in processing the loan, to appraisal and credit-report fees, among others. Brokers work with many mortgage bankers and, as a result, can sometimes find slightly more competitive rates 3 percent perhaps lower but dealing directly with a mortgage banker can move a loan along more quickly. It is a transfer of an interest in land, from the owner to the mortgage lender, on the condition that this interest will be returned to the owner of the real estate when the terms of the mortgage have been satisfied or performed.

But others will claim low rates to bring in customers or tell you that the rates 6 percent offered by competitors will change.

Some will quote you precise, competitive rates 10 percent. Although most mortgage experts say that rates 5 percent are pretty much the same wherever you go, give or take this tiny 4 percentage. Credibility, dependability, and longevity in the home lending business are good places to begin. So how do you find a lender or broker you can trust' While a mortgage in itself is not a debt, it is evidence of a debt of 4 percent. Many of these fees are fixed but some can be negotiated.

Start with credibility. It's not easy to know if the prices quoted by lenders are reliable. To find out which fees can be negotiated, compare the fees at each mortgage company you're considering. See which lenders are charging fees 11 percent and for how much. Different lenders charge different fees. In most jurisdictions mortgages are strongly associated with loans 4 percent secured on real estate rather than other property and in some cases only land may be mortgaged. Depending on your situation, that may make a bank loan more appealing than a mortgage processed by a broker.

Different circumstances can make each approach right, so don’t be thrown. And of course, each loan and each borrower are different. A mortgage is the pledging of a property to a lender as a security for a mortgage loan for 9 percent. Both banks and brokers have their strengths and weaknesses. Arranging a mortgage is seen as the standard method by which individuals and businesses can purchase residential and commercial real estate without the need to pay the full value immediately. In other words, the mortgage is a security for the loan that the lender makes to the borrower. See mortgage loan for residential mortgage lending, and commercial mortgage for lending against commercial property.

A Classic Choice - The Clawfoot Tub

Classic clawfoot bathtubs are beautiful as well as large, enjoyable, and quite practical additions to any bathroom. With Vintage and Victorian designs becoming a popular alternative to modern bathrooms it is no surprise that we are seeing more bathrooms with this type of bathtubs featured in them. A clawfoot bathtub adds character to your bathroom and introduces a calming mood that the modern bathroom has lost. If you have thought about installing a clawfoot bathtub in your home here are a few tips to get you going on the right foot.

If you select a reproduction tub you will have all the appeal of a classic clawfoot bathtub with the benefits of newer and more light-weight materials. Old clawfoot bathtubs were made of very heavy cast iron. The recent acrylic versions are much easier to work with and they do not rust.

Since clawfoot tubs are freestanding you will likely need to come up with ways to hide or dress up the pipes. Typically you will want to attempt to install the bath tub where the plumbing will be concealed as much as possible. In cases where you can't hide the pipes you can attach a skirt on the tub or use copper pipes to give a more whimsical look.

The clawfoot bathtub will need to be washed gingerly, particularly if you buy an older tub. Avoid cleansers that may be too hard on the tub, and you need to ensure that you wash away any cleanser residue right away to avoid damaging the surface.

If you decide on an antique cast iron bathtub you will need to make certain your floor is able to handle the weight. If you are installing it on a second floor or above a basement this is especially important. Cast iron is a very heavy material and can cause problems if you aren't prepared for the extra weight.

Regardless of what your bathroom design is, a clawfoot bathtub will make a great feature. You can relax in your clawfoot bathtub after a tiring day as long as you have kept these tips in mind. Make it a bubble bath, they have always gone perfectly with clawfoot bathtubs! And dont forget to add some aromatic bathing salts.

Useful Advice For Decorating Your Kid's Bathroom

If you need to decorate your kid's bathroom, you have some unique challenges ahead of you. Because young children use the bathroom so often (many times accompanied by a parent), these bathrooms are often the most used rooms in a house. Unfortunately, most parents have no idea how to decorate kids' bathrooms. Children can be very verbal about what they don't like, so if you're the parent of a young child, you might find that your kid disagrees with your design choices. We'll offer some tips and tricks so that you can decorate your kid's bathroom in a way that you'll both like.

Knowing The Gender Behind The Decorations

Decorating a bathroom begins with the gender of the child (or children) who will use the bathroom. A boy's bathroom can be decorated to appeal to his interest in specific passions such as cars, cowboys, bugs, etc. A bathroom used by a young girl can be decorated to appeal to other passions that a boy may not be interested in such as dolls or princesses. Of course, most of this consideration goes out the window when children of both genders are going to be using the bathroom. If that's true, then the bathroom itself should be kept in a neutral theme but still appeal to the kid's interests. No matter what your theme, there are plenty of accessories and decorations to choose from.

What Accessories And Decorations Can Be Used?

There are many different ways to accessorize your kid's bathroom. If your child is into cars, you can get a bathmat and shower curtain with cars on them – this will generally be available as a set. Similarly, if your child likes Disney cartoons, you can use bathroom rugs with pictures of Mickey or Minnie, for example, in their bathrooms.

Toothbrush tumblers come in hundreds of styles. For example, you could buy a dinosaur-shaped tumbler, or one of Cinderella. Soap dispensers come in many styles too and can also be used to enliven children’s bathrooms with their favorite characters, animals and more.

Doorknobs, wastebaskets, soap dishes and tissue dispensers can be found which will cater to the interests of any child.

You can even decorate the knobs on the bathroom wall cabinets in your kid's bathroom if you so choose.

You can buy knobs that look like clown faces, jungle animals, or soccer balls, depending upon what your children prefer. Similar interests can be reflected in other decorations.

A Bathroom That Grows With Your Child

It’s no secret that your child’s tastes will change as they get older. As your child's interests change, the bathroom theme must also change. From soap dispensers to bathmats, shower curtains to doorknobs; even the tumblers can be changed to grow right along with your child.

You should avoid the use of decorations which will be hard to switch out as your child ages. A wallpaper pattern of giraffes may be very appealing to a four year old – but less so when they are twelve. This will leave you with wallpaper you’ll have to replace when your child outgrows their obsession with giraffes.

Ultimately, decorating a kids bathroom is only limited by your imagination. There are so many accessories available to decorate with that the true challenge is deciding which to use. The key to creating a bathroom that will delight your child is to know their interests and buy decorations that are easy to change as your child gets older. With just a little planning and imagination, as well as a small budget, you can create and keep the perfect bathroom for your child.

Did You Forget About Your Bathroom Shower Tiles When Redesigning Your Bathroom?

Your new home will never be entirely comfortable until you can happily realize that it is well furnished. Who would want a lavish house without a kitchen or bathroom that matches its elegance? Readers of interior decoration and housekeeping magazines can relate to the importance attached to a well furnished home. At this time, I want to make it clear that you don't need to spend a lot on a bathroom, but you certainly need to focus your mind on designing one and select carefully from the overwhelming variety of accessories.

One of the most crucial components of a luxurious bathroom is bathroom shower tile, however, we seldom realize its significance. Bathroom shower tile likely covers the most surface area of your bathroom, which makes it a major criterion for determining the look and aesthetics of your bathroom.

There are many kinds of shower tiles available at most home improvement stores. That is a good thing as it provides you with options to select from. This means that you can pick a bathroom shower tile that conforms to your own taste. The drawback is that too many possibilities can also result in confusion. To make shopping more straightforward, it is a good idea to write your ideas on a piece of paper before you actually go to a hardware store to look at shower tile.

Bathroom tiles made of ceramics can last many decades and keep their sheen for a long time. So, ceramic tiles are certainly a smart choice for your bathroom. Also, these tiles are much more cost effective than granite or marble tiles.

It is important to recognize that the size of the bathroom tile makes a big difference. If the tile is too small, it will wreck the beauty. On the other hand, large tiles are noticeably more costly and the expense of their replacement is also that much more. Your choice of tile size will depend in part on your budget and what is available in the colors you want.

It is also very important to employ the services of a professional mason for installing bathroom shower tiles. These tiles typically should not be laid completely flat. Tiles that are to be used as tub surround or tiles that are to be placed in corners need to be placed at a gradient to ensure that water is allowed to run-off into the drain. The gradient is best done by a mason. Unless you are experienced at installing ceramic tile, it's usually a good idea to hire a professional, otherwise your bathroom renovating could turn out to be more costly that you had thought.

I found some useful information at www.bathroomaccessoryguide.com, where in addition to info on bathroom shower tiles, I also found info on how to install a bathtub and Lladro Bathroom.

Small Bathroom

Though I like the home I live in right now, I do have a problem with my small bathroom. I went from a bathroom that was bigger than some of the bedrooms I had when I was a child to what might be one of the world’s smallest. There is so little room that I almost feel claustrophobic when I am standing in it, and there is no room to do anything. You can’t comfortably get dressing there after your shower, and finding room for just a few of my daughter’s bath toys is hard.

I think the worst things about a small bathroom is that I can’t keep anything I need in there, even though I have a large medicine cabinet in there. It is a huge pain to have to go out into the next room to get something out of the closet that should be stored in the bathroom. When more than one of us has to get ready in our small bathroom you might as well forget it. We are bumping into each other and more often than not, there are some angry words exchanged.

If you have a small bathroom like I do, you have to do some creative thinking to make it bearable. You have to find unique storage ideas if you want to be able to stay in your bathroom and not go nuts. If you can’t find room for your towels, talk to someone at a home improvement store about your small bathroom problem and they may have some great ideas that you may not have thought of on your own.

Just remember when you have a small bathroom that you have to think about space that you might normally not have filled with anything. You have to use shelves and a lot of imagination. While a bathroom with a lot of storage items may not be ideal, it might save you from going mad in your small bathroom. I thought when I moved in that I could deal with the bathroom because the rest of the place was great. I soon learned that this was not the case, and I had to get creative. If I can do it, so can you. You might even find suggestions online or in your local decorating store if you just look around to see what they have to offer. I always find new things when I am out, and usually they are things that I never would have imagined on my own.

Pedestal Bathrooms

Remember when you used to go visit your grandparent’s home? They’d have so many interesting and different things, especially if they lived in an older house. One thing I really loved about my grandparent’s house was the fact that they had both a pedestal bathroom sink and tub.

It had a regal charm to it and I always wanted the same when I grew up and had my own home. Now that I do I’ve been searching for a pedestal bathtub to place in my main bath. The home I live in is relatively new so the fixtures in the bathroom are very modern. They lack the charm that a pedestal bathroom sink and tub possess.

I was certain that I’d have to use decades old fixtures to get the look I wanted. This concerned me because I realized that using a pedestal bathroom sink or bathtub that had been installed and then removed from someone’s home may be cracked or worn. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I could actually purchase new fixtures that resembled the ones my grandparents had in their home.

Removing the old fixtures was quite a job. I had no idea exactly how heavy a bathtub could be. Hiring a plumber is certainly the best approach as most offer a guarantee when they install a pedestal bathroom tub or a sink. The plumber we hired explained the process to us and we quickly realized that in order to accommodate the tub we wanted we’d have to install new flooring as well.

We decided to have that done first. After the old fixtures were removed, we chose flooring and had a contractor install it for us. Realizing that so much more of the flooring would be exposed now than previously with the traditional tub and sink, we chose something that would complement the entire look of the room. After it had a change to completely dry, it was time to install the new pedestal fixtures.

Everyone who visits our home comments on the new look of the main bathroom; they absolutely love it. It truly looks great having a pedestal bathroom tub and sink installed and they work just as well as the traditional fixtures that were there when we moved in.

The next job I have lined up for the plumber is to do the same thing to the master bath. What better way to relax than to lock myself in my private bath and take a nice, long soak in my pedestal bathroom tub filled with warm and soapy bubbles?

Towel Bars

Bathrooms never seem to be large enough. This is especially true if you have one in your home that both you and your spouse need to use in the morning. It can be frustrating trying to find a spot to hang your towel after your shower, if someone has already beaten you to the one and only towel bar in the room. With a double towel bar that problem is solved and you don’t have to worry about finding wet or damp towels hanging off doorknobs or lying on the floor.

Your local hardware store is probably the best place to start looking for this unique bathroom accessory. The type of double towel bar you purchase will depend on the fixtures and other accents already present in the room. They come in many different finished including brass and wood and size can vary as well.

Although it may seem somewhat intimidating, you can hang it yourself. If you are lucky, you may be able to reuse the holes that were in the wall already from your existing towel bar. Chances are that the double towel bar you purchase will have four screws for mounting, so you’ll need to drill at least two more holes.

Leveling it before you attach it to the wall is an important and often overlooked step. You may think that having your spouse or someone else stand back and check if the double towel bar looks straight is sufficient. Unfortunately, all too often this technique results in a crooked or lopsided towel bar hanging on the wall.

Use a level and if you don’t have one, you can usually find a very inexpensive one at a local dollar store. It’s a great little item to have around the home for when you are hanging pictures or leveling an appliance. Have a helper hold the level on top of the double towel bar for you while you mount it. This way you are certain to get it as straight as possible.

Small children in the house often think that anything within reach that even resembles jungle gym if meant to be used for climbing. Explain to any little ones that the double towel bar may look like fun but it’s not to be used for anything other than towels. Most are very sturdy but are certainly not designed to hold up that amount of weight. If your towel bar does happen to fall off its mounting, you’ll need to move it to a new spot for hanging again. Also, remember to hang it where there’s a stud beneath the surface of the wall.

Cosmetic Organizers

If you wear cosmetics, you may have them lying all around your bathroom. I know I do, though many times they end up on the windowsill. This is a huge pain because whenever someone opens the window, or when someone puts the shade up or down everything falls on the floor. I am becoming more and more frustrated by the moment. Keeping them in my makeup bag is not convenient, so I have to think about getting cosmetic organizers to keep everything together.

The problem I have had with cosmetic organizers in the past is that I can never find one that I use. I get it, fill it up, but there is always something bad about it that deems it unusable. They either don’t fit anywhere in my small bathroom, or they are just inconvenient. I am considering finding some cosmetics organizers that you can hang from the back of a door or from the wall, but I haven’t gotten that far yet. I’m not in a huge hurry though, because I do think they will end up being more inconvenient than anything else.

You can find these cosmetic organizers almost anywhere you buy make up. You will find all sorts, sizes, and shapes. Some will be big and others will be small. You have to decide how much space you have and how many items you need to have within reach when you apply your make up. They make cosmetic organizers for those who only wear a few items, and for those who go all out when they apply make up. You can find them in clear plastic as well as in almost any color you can imagine. You can find something to match your décor if you so choose.

You can also find cosmetic organizers that look like a small tote box. I used to have one of these, though I found it hard to keep track of. My husband called it my tackle box for the longest time, and I have to admit, it did look like you might open it up and find a nice array of fishing lures. This type of cosmetic organizers may be great for someone who is away from home a lot, but is not very practical to use in your bathroom on a daily basis. If you are anything like me, you will probably end up using this tote for something other than your cosmetics. Right now, mine is under my bed and is full of some of my daughter’s toys.

Towel Bars

bathroom never seem to be large enough.

DIY Home Renovation Ideas - Basics Of Bath Design

The following article is from a series of home improvement articles, videos and tips about bathroom remodeling

If you're worried about the cost to remodel bathroom fixtures and components, then perhaps you don't have to start from scratch. Giving your bathroom a new look may be as simple as upgrading your bathtub. Bath design has come a long way and you can choose styles that range from classic to contemporary. In this article, we've got valuable tips on choosing a tub that will have you soaking in luxury.

The first decision, when considering a new bath design, is the goal of the room. Are you updating a guest bathroom? Is it your kids' bathroom or a master bath? Will this be a handicapped bath for an elderly parent? The next thing to consider is your budget. Tubs with lots of features can be costly, so decide what you're prepared to pay for. If you love soaking in a tub, then buying a good tub is money well spent. However, you can get a jetted tub, spa or soaking tub nowadays at fairly affordable prices if you compare different home product suppliers.

You also need to consider the available space and what it will take to install the tub. Check to see if extra carpentry will be needed for installation and find out how much the tub will weigh when it's full. A tub full of water needs to be adequately supported, so check your framing. Cast-iron tubs, whirlpools, soaking and sunken tubs usually require additional support. A tub sized for more than one person will put extra demands on the home's hot water heater also, so you may also require an upgrade or a second water heater.

Besides the typical rectangular shape, tubs also come in corner, oval, circular and freestanding styles. Built-in tubs can be alcove, drop-in or corner style. An alcove tub is standard in most homes and are often tub-shower combinations with waterproof surrounding walls. Drop-in tubs can be sunken into the floor or a tub deck. Drop-in models that are mounted into their own frame or deck will need additional carpentry or framework, which can add to the total cost. Corner model built-ins are installed in the corner, with surrounds on two sides. A free-standing tub has legs or ball-and-claw feet. These tubs frequently have rolled edges and slipper backs for soaking.

You wouldn't buy a car without test driving it, so hop into a tub at the store and test it for comfort. A tub fit for soaking should have a bath design depth of at least 15 to 20 inches. The material the tub is made of should also be considered. Porcelain on steel is the most common bathtub material and is resistant to corrosion, acid and abrasion. Fiberglass is one the least costly tub materials but it's not as durable. Other material options include cast iron, solid surfacing and natural stone. Regardless of which tub you purchase when it's time to remodel a bathroom, remember to soak up the pleasures of a luxurious bath experience.
